Publisher: NSW DPI (Environment & Heritage)
Dataset: Land and Soil Capability (LSC) Mapping v4
Vintage: Latest published LSC v4 layer
Resolution: 1:25,000 vector polygons (statewide)
How we use it
Polygon intersect with each lot
Capability class 1–8 is read from the LSC polygon covering each lot — Class 1 is prime cropping land, Class 8 is conservation only. Suburb and LGA tiers show the median class across all rural lots in the area.
Limitations
LSC is a regional capability indicator — site-specific soil testing is required for any high-value enterprise decision. Sub-property variation (drainage hollows, rocky outcrops) is not captured.
